In this blog I am going to be talking about the NBA and what has happened. There is this virus going around that is known as Covid-19 or the Coronavirus. This virus has made a great impact on the world. I know that there is various amounts of things that I can talk about and how it has affected them. What I want to focus on is the NBA though and how it has been impacted from the virus. Some people probably don’t even know what the NBA is, so let me give a brief description of it to the people. The acronym “NBA” stands for the National Basketball Association. If one didn’t know, this has to deal with the sport of basketball. This is just the professional league of it, where the players are paid a lot of money to play the sport. This sport attracts a lot of fans just like other sports that are also played. Since the basics of it are now known, lets get down to business.

What Happened?

The issue with the NBA is what everyone of the fans were waiting for, that is the playoffs. Sadly, that is not going to happen due to the virus. This has really upset the people but also the players too. In the regular season, the players have to play a tremendous amount of 82 games even before the playoffs. Now, one might see why that would make a player mad. They have almost played all 82 of their games and now it wont even pay off for them. Every team wants to get that chance to try and win the NBA title. The most important thing is that some of these rookies wont even get to prove how good they could’ve been in the playoffs.

Who Could’ve Won the Title?

There is 16 teams that get a chance to be the champions. The NBA is divided into two different conferences. One conference is called the Eastern Conference and the second is the Western Conference. Such a simple name right.. I’m just going to be naming the first four teams of each conference. For the Eastern Conference in order from first seed to fourth seed is, Milwaukee Buck, Tornonto Raptors, Boston Celtics, and the Miami Heat. In the Western Conference, it goes the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and the Utah Jazz. Each of these teams have a very good chance to win the title but so do the other eight that I did not mention.

How the Playoffs Work

In the playoffs, each team plays against each other until one acquires four wins. The max amount of games that they are allowed to play is seven. With all of these games, one can see that there is a lot of money that is being spent. Not just by the fans but also by the teams. They have to travel to each opponents stadium and vice versa. The playoffs might last a long time but every game can be different. All it could take is just one injury from a player or just one cool play to change the whole momentum of the game. All of this can’t be predicted, because a person can’t predict how well a player is going to shoot or how well of defense a player is going play. That is why the NBA is so crazy.

Who I Think Will Win

The team that I think will win will be the Milwaukee Bucks. With the Greek Freak, I believe that they will be unstoppable against all of their opponents. Also, that will be really cool since it is a team that is from Wisconsin to win it. Let me know who you guys think will win it.

Who is “Zanos”?

Zanos is a nickname that Zion Williamson’s friends made for him. If you don’t know this man, he is a guy that plays in the National Basketball Association. Zion is a 6’6″ tall power forward. He weighs roughly about 284 lbs. That is quite the hefty size for a guy of his height. Most football players are built like how Zion is, but Zion is a basketball player not a football player. With Zion being that big, you would think that he’d be slow right? Well actually, he is the opposite of that. He is a very explosive guy and can actually move pretty fast.

The Bounce Back

Zion gets the number 1 pick in the 2019 draft. He was drafted to the New Orleans Pelicans, they start the pre-season and Zion is already showing the NBA world what he is made of. In just the four games that he played, he was able to average 23.3 points per game. This man also had a shooting percentage of 71%. Now don’t forget, he is still coming off of that knee injury that he had suffered from in college. Then in the last pre-season game, Zion goes down to a more serious knee injury.

Round 2?

Alright, now we fast forward into time when Zion is back from his injury and after he is all healed from getting surgery done to his knee. He has missed half of the season and now he is ready to make up for all of those lost games. His first game back, he came out and impressed everyone with how well he performed. He got a total of 22 points and shot a 72.7 percentage. Zion was able to score all of those points in just 22 minutes.

ROY?

Okay, now that people know how good Zion is. Ever since he has gotten back, hes averaged roughly 24 points per game, 2.2 assists per game, 6.9 rebounds per game, and about 0.9 steals per game. All of these stats have been done in just the past 17 games that he’s been able to play. With how he has been performing, I would not be surprised if he were to win rookie of the year award. This is crazy how his season has turned out, but I cant wait until the end of it to see the awards that he is going to get. This man has a lot of potential and I can see that from watching him play in his games.

The Webster Tigers Boys Basketball Team

In this post, I would like to talk about some basketball. I haven’t made a post about basketball since last semester and I wanted to talk more about Tallon and keep everyone updated on how he and the team is doing. This has been quite a crazy season for the Tigers, they have been through quite a lot of different situations that could’ve made them have a better record. Enough with this intro, now lets dive in!!

Alright, since you are now familiar with the starters, I am going to talk about what this team could’ve been. The reason why I say this is because people on the team started getting injuries that really hurt the team. The team isn’t really deep for backups(that are good and experienced). Tanner Pardun; number 10, he ended up spraining his ankle which still hurts him during games, so he isn’t able to play with his full potential clearly. He is a key factor now since he is the point guard but with this injury it can effect how well he plays in playoffs. Carsen Stenberg; number 22, he ended up tearing his ACL against Unity the second time the team faced them. He was a huge factor for the team and by far the best guard in the conference. Now, we move onto Coleton Peterson; number 32, he tore his meniscus and he had to sit games. He got “healthy” but he isn’t fully recovered from the surgery, he still feels pains in his knee during the games.

Why do the Injuries Matter?

These injuries matter because with these players abilities affects how far they are able to make it in the playoffs. This also affected how the Tigers were seeded in the playoffs. Since they didn’t have some players for certain key games which have affected the Tigers record/seeding. The Tigers have lost 7 games that have been lost by under five points!!! That is crazy to just imagine that a few plays could’ve had them possibly being the best team in the conference and their seeding.

The End?

I personally do not know how far they will make it in the playoffs but I do believe if everything goes right, they should be able to make it to somewhere. Basketball is just a hard sport to predict, it all depends if shots are falling or sometimes on how the refs are. Refs could possibly make a bad call or even not make an important call. Anyways, this is all I had to write about for the Tigers, let me know if you want me to do one of these on your school. :))))

To start of the new year, the Superbowl 54 has been played. In this game it was between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. The Superbowl is more popular in the United States just because of the fact that Americans like Football more than anyone. If you don’t know what the Superbowl is, its basically a football game between the best NFC team and AFC team. Each team plays three rounds in the playoffs before getting to the Superbowl game.

San Francisco 49ers

Now, lets dive in and talk about the following teams that have participated in this championship game. The 49ers, they were a dominant team in the NFC. They acquired the first round seed, meaning that they didn’t have to play the first playoff game because they are just that good. The first game that they played was against the Vikings. They ended up winning this game 27-10, the first step towards the Superbowl was winning this game. The next week was the conference championship, who they played against the Packers. They destroyed the Packers with a score of 37-20. Towards the middle of the season I could clearly see this team making it to the Superbowl.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs were the other team that participated in the Superbowl. They were a dominant AFC team but I did not expect them to make it this far. As previously in one of my posts, I talked about the Ravens and I thought they were going to the Superbowl but clearly I was wrong. The Chiefs had a winning record of 12 and 4. They were also a 1 seed in the playoffs, so they got to skip the first playoff game. There first game was in the Divisional championship, they played against the Texans and smoked them. The score of that game was 51-31. The next game was for the Conference championship. They played against the Titans and beat them by a score of 35-24. Winning that game secured them on there trip to the Superbowl.

The Superbowl

Now, we are at the BIG GAME. This was quite an interesting game considering on how things have turned out. To start out the game, the Chiefs end the first quarter with a 7-3 lead over the 49ers. Already at this point, people could tell that this was going to be a good game. Both teams were playing tough defense against each other. At the end of the 2nd quarter the game is tied at 10. The Chiefs end up scoring a field goal and the 49ers ended up scoring a touchdown. We are not at the third quarter and the 49ers take the lead with a score of 20-10. The fourth quarter begins, the Chiefs know that they are going to have to grind to get over the 10 point deficit. The 49ers end up crumbling under the pressure and lose the game by 10 points. This was a crazy move that I did not see coming. This was a big choke by the 49ers and the Chiefs end up winning the Superbowl.

Information

Tallon is a senior at Webster High School and this will currently be his third year playing basketball at the school. He played in 9th, 10th, and of course this year. You are probably wondering why he didn’t play his junior year. Well that is because he was “chasing the bread”. Okay, now lets get into some crucial facts on him. Tallon has a height of 6’2″. Now see that isn’t like the tallest for like NBA or anything like that, that height is pretty average the higher up in sports you get. In our little school though, he is able to just dominate kids because most kids are not that tall. Too add onto his genetic traits, he is also 200 pounds. Even if there were guys that were his height, he can just bully them in the post and make moves on them with his size. Tallon has a wingspan of 6’2″, with that wingspan it makes it slightly easier for him to get rebounds and also to create better shots for himself.

Basketball Stats

In the season opener, the team played the Somerset Spartans. Somerset was a decently challenging team for the Tigers. In that game, Tallon put up 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. He was in full control of the paint when they fed him the ball. Somerset finally realized that he was a threat in the second half of the game. They adjusted to him in the second half and basically just shut him down. This was a bold move by the Somerset coach and the move ended up getting them the victory against the Tigers. Still it was a great game by Tallon Parent in his first game in two years.

Unity

The second game of the year was on the road. The Tigers had to travel to the Unity Eagles court. Tallon knew this would be a big game because Unity has the size and they are a physical team. The man himself had to go hard in this game to make sure that the team would get this dub. Unity tried to pull away with the lead late in the game but Tallon said no and made Webster come back by hitting crucial free throw shots. Tallon finished this game with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 assists. Tallon is quite the play-maker and he tries to run the boards all game long.

The Ravens

If you do not know this guy, he is Lamar Jackson and he is the quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens. The Baltimore Ravens is a National Football team in America. Currently, they have just beat the Seahawks, Patriots, Texans, Rams, and 49ers. That was just in the past five weeks. Those five teams that they beat were some of the top teams in the league. From knowing that they beat these teams, I can see that they are a team that should not be slept on.

Offense

Lamar Jackson is one of the reasons that the Ravens are able to beat those teams. He has thrown for 2,532 yards with 322 attempts so far this season. Out of those 2,532 yards, there was 24 touchdowns thrown by him. He has ran for 977 yards with 140 attempts. He is averaging 7 yards per carry and he is a quarterback. This offense is just deadly, you have to fear the run and the pass from Lamar Jackson. Then when Lamar Jackson is out in the open space, the defenders miss tackles because he can make such good moves to cause them to miss. This is one of the reason’s why I and many other people believe that they will win the Superbowl in 2020.

Defense

The Ravens defense is ranked 4th out of all of the other teams in the NFL. They have the most team interceptions and are one of the top defenders against the pass. Not only do opponents have to worry about the offense, but they also have to worry about the defense. Some of the defensive players had interviews and they say they have to step up their game because of how well the offense is. With how well this team is, I can see them winning the Superbowl along with other people.
